A "JUMBLE" SHOP

What everyone knows is that jumble sales are most attractive to a large number of buyers, and many will be interested to hear that the members of the women's committee working in conjunction with the Unemployment Board will open a. "shop" to-morrow, at which all kinds of work done by unemployed people will be for sale. There will be needlework, knitted goods, cakes, jams, pastries, sweets, leather work, produce, and other things too numerous to mention. It ie hoped that citizens who have saleable things that they can offer as a help to this effort will bring them,or send them along, or materials for making other articles. This will be a substantial and reasonable way of "helping others to help themselves," which is, of course, the ideal. The price of tho goods sold at the shop, made by the workers, will go direct to them, less a small commission, which will be used for buying more materials to be worked up.

All work done within the shop will bo entirely voluntary and unpaid. The shop itself is being lent by the City Council, the address being 43, Willis street, at the' corner of Chews, lane and Willis street. Among the gifts which will be welcomed from the public are boxes and tins suitable for packing sweets and cakes, or jars and bottles for jams and other .pantry goods. Orders for sweets or any other kind of goods may be left at the shop, which will be open to-morrow at 10 o'clock in the morning to sell and receive goods. It is anticipated that there will bo warm support for this kindly and practical effort.
