MAUI POMARE'S CARGO

The Government motor-ship Maui Pomare arrived at Wellington last night from Niue Island and berthed this morning at No. 1 south Queen's Wharf. T?ine weather was experienced by the vessel on the voyage, with tho exception of the north-west gale yesterday.

The Mani Pomare brought a cargo of 3221 eases of Satnoan bananas, and GoO oases of bananas from Nine Island. The iruit is in excellent condition. This is the largest cargo of fruit that the ship has brought from the Islands since a hurricane did much damage there some months ago. Captain Bolton, master of the Mani Pomare, stated tliat the Islands were recovering well from the elFects of the hurricane, but Nine Island was now .wffering from a drought, and this was having i(:s effect on the fruit. Tho Mani I'omarft's cargo includes 32 sacks of kumeras, about a dozen bags of hides, and a ton of general cargo.
