Mr. H. L. Tapley, of Duncdin, is re> turning this evening.

Mr. J. Thurlow, a. metallurgical engineer, of Transvaal, was a passenger by tho Tamaroa, which arrived at Wellington this morning from Southampton.. Mr. Thurlow, who is on a holiday visit to the Dominion, is accompanied by his wife.

Mr. 11. A. Palmer, barrister of the Inner Temple, arrived from Englaud by tho Tamaroa to-day. 'Mr. Palmer, who represents Messrs. Butterworth and Co., is editor-in control of the consolidation of reprint of the Now Zealand Statutes, and will act in consultation with the New Zealand Editorial Board, consisting of the Chief Justice, tho AttorneyGeneral, and Parliamentary draughtsman.

Beferenco to tho death of several old bowlers —Mr. M. D. Menolaus (Victoria), Sir Edward Gibbes (Thorndon), Mr. D. M'Lean (Wellington), Mr. W. L. Foster (Woburn), and Mr. I. Salek (treasurer of the Wellington Club)— was made at the meeting of the executive of the Wellington Bowling Centre last evening by the president (Mr. M. J. Hodgins).
