RUGBY LAWS

"DISCOURTEOUS" ACTION

A CANTERBURY PROTEST

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCIt, This Day

At a meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Union a letter was received from tho New Zealand Rugby Union stating that the union had been advised that tho proposed alteration to the rule affecting the putting of the ball into the scrum had application to the 3-2-3 scrum only, and that its effect on the 2-3-2 scrum was being considered.

Mr. S. F. Wilson said he had always held the view that the New Zealand Union should uphold the Homo body, but on the present occasion he considered that a protest should bo entered against the English Union in appointing an advisory board and at the same time making suggested alterations before the new body could meet. In his opinion it was a most discourteous thing to do. The New Zealand Union should hold a special meeting to discuss Ihc mutter before it sent any representative to attend a further conference.

It was decided to write to the New ZcnlHnd Union on the. lines uf Mi. Wilson 's remarks.
