NORTHLAND PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION

The annual meeting of the Northland Progressive Association was held last week, Mr. E. H. Bracey presiding. In his presidential address Mr. Bracey thanked Mr. S. E, Lambert for his efforts to have tram access to the city improved. Efforts to alleviate local distress had been satisfactory, and the president thanked the residents and the Inter-Chnrch Committee for their aid. The membership was not all that could be desired. The annual report was read and adopted. Improvements in access had resulted from the opening of the new Kelburn Viaduct, the regrading of Orangi Kaupapa road, and the reconditioning of other main streets. Reference was also made to the improvements to Western Park and the completion of the Northland Fire Station. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr. E. H. Bracey; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. Good and T. Plant; committee, Messrs. Watts, S. E. Lambert, J. R. Millar, J. Gapes, Captain F. Macindoe, Messrs. T. Bellman, F. H. Tighe, B. J. Crawford, W. C. Bind. L. H. Steel, J. R. Smith, T. Franklyn, Mesdames Bracey and Good; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. L. Angel!; lion, auditor, Mr. C. Blackburn. Dunbar Sloano, Ltd., auctioneers, will sell at their mart, Lambton quay, to-morrow at 1 p.m. household furniture and effects, also garden tools and lawn mowers, etc,
