(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, 27th August. J. E. Giesen, a New Zealand medical student at London Hospital, had a good day at the Aldeburgh Lawn Tennis tournament. He was successful in three events, beating B. W. Finnigan, the Oxford Blue, in the final of the men's singles, winning the men's doubles in partnership with linnigan, and the # mixed doubles with Mrs. P. Carthew. . • Details of these final matches were:— Men's Singles.—J. E. Gieseu beat B. W. Finnigan, 9-11, 7-5, G-3. Men's Doubles.—J. E. Giesen and B. W. Finnigan beat B. W. Eardley and P. H Sidney, 6-1, SO. Mixed Doubles.—J. E. Giesen and Mrs. P. Carthew beat H. A. Buckler and Miss K. B. Stammers, 2-6, 6-3, 8-6. C. B. Malfroy, the New Zealand player, was not able to reach the final stage in the men's singles in the North of England championships, at Scarborough, but with V. G. Kirby he won the men's doubles. He met J. L. Chamberlain in the semifinals of the men's singles. Chamberlain playea fine tennis in the two sets, winning by 64, 6-4. Kirby beat Avory in the other semi-final match. In the semi-final of the men's doubles, V. G. Kirby and Malfroy beat H. S. Burrows and R. J. Ritchie (9-7, 9-7), and in the third round of the mixed doubles Malfroy and Mrs. J. G. Stephens beat H. S. Burrows and Miss C. M. Yule (6-2, 6-2). The results for the final day's play were:— Men's Singles.—V. G. Kirby beat J L. Chamberlain, 6-3, 6-3. Men's Doubles.—V. G. Kirby and C. E. Malfroy beat E. R. Avory and J. W. Nuthall, 0-1, 6-1, 5-7, 64. Mixed Doubles.—Semi-final: C. E. Malfroy and Mrs. J. G. Stephens beat E. R. Avory and Miss M. Heeley, 9-7, 6-4; V. G. Kirby and Miss F. James beat F. 11. D. Wilde and Miss J. Ingram, 9-7, 04. Final: Kirby and Miss James beat Malfroy and Mrs. Stephens, 6-3, 6-2.
