COMMITTEE OF THREE

TO SELECT CRICKET TEAMS

K. C. JAMES INCLUDED

The efforts of the Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Associaion to decide into whose hands the selection of this year's representative teams should be entrusted, came to an end last evening, when it was decided to appoint the following committee of three: Messrs. \V. A. Aldersley (chairman), L. T. Cohcroft, and K. C. James. ' The matter was held over from' last week when notice of motion to rescind the motion passed at the previous week's meeting, whereby a committee waf to replace the sole selector, was given by Mr. W. A. Duncan. At the suggestion of the chairman, Mr. P. B. Broad, it was decided to hold the discussion in committee, and, after a lengthy debate, the decision 'reached, was announced. The three men appointed need little introduction to the Wellington cricketing public. Mr. Aldersley is well known as a valuable performer with both ; bat and ball in the* Hutt senior eleven, and as a member of the Management Committee. Mr. Cobcroft has had a lengthy association with, the game'in both Australia, where he played in, Victoria, and New Zealand. He is one of the Domin-j ion's leading umpires, and has done valu-i able work in: the Hutt Valley coaching! Petone and Hutt players of both senior and. junior status, with much of. his time spent among the schoolboys. Mr. James is probably the youngest selector Wellington has yet had, but despite hia comparative youth, has been a member of Wellington and New Zealand representative teams for a good number of years, hia ability as a wicket-keeper earning, him a reputation which is by no means confined to.■• this country. Last season he was captain. of the Wellington College Old Boys' team.
