PETONE CLUB

The members of the Petoifc Rifle Club fired a further practice match at Tren'tham on Saturday, ranges 500 and. 000 yards. There Was a good,attendance, but the weather conditions were against tall scoring. At 500 yards members had to contend with a fairly strong left wind. At thisdisance A. Ballinger and O. Peder!sen just missed scoring the possible, and topped the scoring with 49 each; followed by, T. Chapman 48, E. Ballinger 47, and H. L. Rule 46. At the longer distance the light proved very difficult, and a light rain made shooting conditions hard. A. Ballinger and W. Johnston each registered 46, »nd were top scorers, followed by O. Pedersen, W. H. Ballinger. and R. C. Barkle with 44 each,'F. T. Cooper 43, E. Ballinger 43. The outstanding aggregate off the gun for the day was secured by the veteran Mr. Arthur Ballinger, who finished with a total of 95 out of the possible 100, and-he was congratulated by all members. It was indeed a remarkable shoot under the conditions. O. Pedersen was next with 93, followed by E. Ballinger 90, W. Johnston and W. H. Ballinpter 88 each, and R. C. Barkle 87. Next Saturday the ranges will be 300 and 600 yards, and will mark the commencement of the club championships and other club competitions.
