OTAGO HARBOUR EMPLOYEES

(By Telegrapn.) (Special to "Tha Evening Post.") DUNEDIN, 12th October. As a result of a shrinkage in its revenue, the Otago Harbour Board recently set up mi economy committee to report on means of reducing expenditure. It is now stated that reductions will be recommended in the estimated expenditure exceeding £.7000, enabling the board to devote about .£4OOO out of revenue for flood protcctivo works on tho Leith. Tho greatest saving will be- effected as a result of a. reduction of working time on the dredges ami engineering woiks to five days a week. This proposal is made as an alternative to staff reductions.
