A GOOD EXAMPLE
BRITAIN'S LEAD
A NATIONAL GOVERNMENT
The lirst reference in the House of Representatives to tho turn taken by the British political situation was made last night by Colonel T. W. M( Donald (L'nited, Wairarapa), who said that no greater and finer example could be furnished members of the' Now Zealand Parliament how to come together when the country was in dire distress and passing through an unparalleled crisis than that set by the statesmen of Great Britain.
"Surely," he said, "if wo cannot take other examples we can adopt this one, and. at once form a National Government on .the same lines to tide New Zealand over the difficulties at present confronting it. Then when the .difficulties have been surmounted we can go back, if we so desire, to our present parties. Party wrangling when the country is clamouring for assistance should not be tho order of the day." Interests' of party should' be placed in tho background, and all hands should be on deck to save tho ship of State."
