ON WANGANUI TRACKS

IMPETUOUS DOING WELL Work on the Wanganui tracks is now becoming more interesting in.view of the near approach o£ the. Wanganui. Jockey Club's Spring Meeting, and the following galops, on a track slow after Tain, are instructive:— .Impetuous .had Takahu'e as a companion m a working gailop' over half a mile, ..which occupied S3 4-osec, Impetuous is Xcllforw^rfl-and-should'be-in'- good" shape lor- net early spring engagements. Psychologist and Pedestal were companions in a half-mile flutter. They ran the first quarter in 25"/3 Sec, but had to be kicked along to register 52sec for the full journey, Pedestal being in front. Psychologist is to be given a run in the Opunake Scurry at the Taranaki Hunt Meeting on Saturday, and this may liven him up, though he will need to improve considerably to have any chance in the wanganui Guineas. Pomp gave Callan, a five-year-old mare by Callaghan from a Field Battery mare, a couple of lengths start from the halfmile peg, but was soon up to her. They ran the first quarter in 25see and the full journey iv 52see, Pomp being in front arid doing it well.
