HANGCHOW CONFERENCE
A special meeting. o£ tlie Wellington branch, oi the Institute of Pacific Relations was held on Friday last-./Mem-bers were able to ineet'Mr.'H. Tennent, froni .Honolulu, and to hear the latest plans for the conference which will be held at Hangchow, China, next' October. Mr. Tennent will join the . New Zealand delegates to the conference,.. Messrs.: H. P. yon Haast, J. B. Straehan, and \V. T. . G.. Airey. The New Zealand representatives expect to connect: with the JTellore at Sydney on 12th ; September. Hangehow is about half a "day's journey from Shanghai. Preliminary meetings will commence on 12th October, and the conference.will open six days later. .; .
Mr. W. Kennedy, a member, of the PanPacific Union in Honolulu, was also present, and after Mr. Tennent had spoken of the conference, conditions of unemployment among the different races in Honolulu were discussed.
