THE KING SEIZES THE INITIATIVE
RESOLVING POLITICAL DEADLOCK
(Times Cable.) (Received 25th August, noon.) LONDON, 24th August. ••The Times" political correspondent says that the King played a most important and valuable part in the two last crowded days. When the Conservative and Liberal Leaders met Mr. Mac Donald at the Palace, the King first frankly discussed the situation, after which he left ihem in conference. He relumed after an hour, heard ihe result of their deliberations, and urged that some official slalemnnt be issued before they left the Palace. This resulted in the communique announcing that a National Government was under consideration. This immediately did much to reassure the -world lhal an efleclive Government was in ihe process of formation.
