GOLF IN AUSTRALIA
CHAMPIONSHIP CARNIVAL COURSE RECORD BROKEN SYDNEY, 24th August. The Australian golf championship carnival opened in charming weather. In. the first round of the professionals' 36-holes stroke handicap, Frank Eyre, the present open, champion, broke the course record of 70 with 69. Keane and Hatt&rsley, with a fine round. of 73, secured the lead in the first round. In the amateur foursomes for the championship of Australia, Sloan Morpeth and Ryan, are well up with 7G. W. Corry also shared the honours with Eyre, with 69. The previous course1 record for the j Kensington course was 70 for professionals and 71 for amateurs. The professional holder was T. Howard and the amateur H. Morrison.
