DE LUXE THEATRE.
Said to be one of the season's best comedies, ons moment raising the eyebrows with its dialogue and the next pulling them down wilh an uproariously funny comic situation, the Universal production, "Virtuous Husband." will make Its screen debut at the De Luxe Theatre to-day. The story, based upon the stage farce ' Apron Strings," concerns tho amazing and totally unusual antics of an idealistic young husband whose mother's letters of advice cause a highly amusing situation. The young wife objects, to put it mildly, and the ensuing situations easily attain what Is said to be the heights of sparkling entertainment. Elliott Nugent as the wrongly calculating benedict walks on and off the screen in his character so convincingly that, it is said, one ycry nearly forgets they are attending a talkIng picture, and that compliment is almost the height of approval. Pert little Jean Arthur is equally well cast, and gives one of the most excellent portrayals of her career J. C. Nugent makes it all a family affair when he realistically and paternally advises Elliott about women. Ho might well advise the young man. being, in real life, his father. Allison Skinworth, from tho London stage, gives an Ideal and laughable characterisation of the ma-in-law with very fixed ideas, while Tilly Marshall, as the family lawyer, and •Sleep 'n' Eat," the retarded coloured man j*. |!> me,? distinction in Harold Lloyd's Feet First," also add materially to tho funpervaded atmosphere of the picture. In addltion to the main feature, the usual excellent Universal short subjects will be presented including another hilarious coraedv starring tho Inimitable Slim Snmmcrville. The orches tra under Mr L. D. Austin and Mr. Paul J., Cullen on the Wurlitzer, will add to the pi, rof lho, "f"?;™"™ 6- Box plans Bristol Piano Co. and theatre.
