SCHOOL RUGBY
HUTT VALLEY WINS
The annual Rugby match between teams representing .the. primary schools in Wellington and the Hutt Valley was held at Kelburn Park yesterday, before a failnumber of spectators. The boys gave a good display, showing a considerable knowledge of tactics and the finer points of play. They packed well in the scrums, followed up .smartly, and generally tackled well. The backs did their best to open up play, and were, if anything, too unselfish, as they preferred to pass out when opportunities for cutting-in were available. Their main fault was that they very seldom drew their man before passing, but the same fault may often be observed in senior players. As in previous years,' the Hutt boys were a little too strong for their opponents, being slightly heavier all round, and won. Tuiri, Wiggins, and Knowles were prominent for Hutt, and Bradley, „ Aitken, and'- Parker showed up for Wellington. The teams were considerably changed at half-time. 'The teams were:— Hutt: Heald; Tuiri, Cummick, Balks: Wiggins, Hcwson; M'Gurk; Goodman; ecorgie, Bentley, Coulton, Wilkinson, Foley, Dean, Knowles. Wellington: Kerry; Bradley, M'Kenzie, Miller; Parker, Butcher; Aitken; Williams; Olnej', Pawson, Compi, Dutton) Hartnell, Ness,- Cooper. Hutt were early on attack, and Wiggins made a run to the full-back before being tackled. Wellington retaliated, and worked their way into Hutt's territory, where Bradley made a strong run. A movement among the Hutt three-quarters turned defence into attack, Tuiri making a bright run. Wellington's only try came when Parker broke through and scored beneath the posts. Hutt were attacking strongly at half-time, when the score wasWellington, 3; Hutt, 0. Hutt did not take long to get into their stride iv the second apell. After Tuiri had run across the field, R. Knowles scored. Hutt kept up the attack, but'occas-\ lonally Wellington broke away. Finally, Tuiii scored.' Some tirae afterwards, Wilkinson scored after a forward rush had taken play to the line. Wellington showed up well towards the end of the game, and Bradley ■ distinguished himself in a fine run. The final score was: Hutt, 9: Wellington, .3. Mr. X. Woollett was the rofeiee.
