LODGE MEETINGS

Bro; Button, N.Cr., presided over the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Antipodean lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F. The question of granting assistance to brothers in distress ,was referred to the Management Committee, with power to act. A letter of recommendation was granted to Bro. C. *F. Rowe. A challenge was received from Loyal 'Newtbwn Lodge in connection with the "500" Shield and was accepted for a date to be arranged. A number of visitors were present, including Bro. A. J, S.teel, Loyal Eose, Shamrock, and Thistle Lodges, Invercargill. Brb.- C. W. Bland, President of the Past Grands Lodge, placed before the lodge the question of an annual visit by district officers and the suggestion of holding a comtrined meeting. After discussion it was agreed to support the suggestion. The balance of the evening was spent in harjnony, . '• ' .

The usual meeting of Loyal Sister Wallis Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., held last week, was presided, over by Sister Reynard, N.G. Bro. T. Lynneberg, Vice-President, and 'Bro. E..K. Couper, secretary of the Past Grands Lodge, attended, and placed before the lodge the question o£ a combined tneeting to receive the district officers on their annual visit. It was resolved that the lodge should support the suggestion. Bro. M'Greevy, P.G., delegate on the F.S. Dispensary, gave a report on the last quarter. Sick visitors' report was received from Sister 3ST. Couper. Bros. Moseley, P.G., and Bro. G. Bell, P.G., and F.S. of Xoyal Newtown Lodge received lodge honours, to which they replied.

: The annual smoke concert of Loyal Antipodean Lodge, M.U., T.0.0.F., was held last week, Bro. Sutton, N.G., being in the chair, supported by Bro. A. G. Shrimpton, G.S., and Bro. W. B. Brown, D.D.G.M. After the loyal toast the following were honoured:—"Manchester Unity," proposed by Bro. «T. P. O'Sulliyan, P.D.G.M., responded to by Bros. ~YV. I. Clark and A. C. Blair, P.D.G.M.'a and Grand Trustees; "Wellington District," Bro. A. J. Williams, P.G.; reply Bro. W. B. Brown, D.D.G.M., and Bro. R. K. Gouper, 1.P.D.G.M.; "Loyal Antipodean Jjodge," Bro. A. G. Shrimpton, G.S., who also made'special reference to the great ■work achieved by Bro. A. Guise, secretary for over 40 years. Bro. Guise, in reply, outlined some of the lodge's ancient history. Bro. gill; "The Artists/ Bro. C. W. Bland, P.G., to which several replies were received. A programme of musical and other, items was given by Bro. E. Read, Messrs. C. Sander, Arthur, Still, M'Cawe, Moore, Bros. E. Read, sen., and A. I. Wainwright. Community singing was also enjoyed with orchestral accompaniments. Bros. E. W. Guise, C. J. Burnett, and others attended to the arrangements of entertaining.

Loyal Newtown Lodge, M;U., 1.0.0. F., held, its fortnightly meeting last, week, ■when Bio. J. Can-, N.G., presided over a splendid-gathering. The question of a combined visit of lodges on the occasion of the annual visit of the district officers was placed before the lodge by Bros. C. W. Bland aud E. K. Couper. It was resolved to support-the proposal. After dealing with correspondence, sick, reports, and accidents, the lodge adjourned for the monthly gathering of town and suburban lodges, at which there was a record attendance. A welcome was extended by the N.G., after which a programme of dancing, games, etc., was carried out. Bros. Johns, Eades, and Meares acted as M.C/s, while Bro. J. Standen was at the piano.

On Thursday evening of last week officers and members attended a meeting of Loyal Petone Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., when Bro. Johnson, N.G., presided. A large amount of correspondence was received,- including relief cases, which were handed over to the secretary and trustees. Bro. A. J. Foote, P.G., gave the lodge some hints in connection with Jiitual work, for -which lie received a vote of thanks. The lodge decided to support a district officers' visit. Lodge honours were accorded visitors, to which they replied. Bro. Featherston, P.G., gave some interesting remarks, regarding the pro-gress-of the.branch atMoera.

Court Lady Glasgow, ;:No. -8201, A.0.F., held its fortnightly: meeting-, last, week, C.R. Sister Tcnnant being in-the chair, There was a good muster of members.
