UNEMPLOYMENT DEPUTATION
(To tho Editor.)
Sir,—ln reply to "Still Another Point of View" we duly note the assertion that "five of the deputation were not Communists," and in spite of ■ that assertion we stand to our original statement as correct, namely, that except one" spokesman they were members or closely associated with the official Communist organisation. Your, correspondent asks other questions which have nothing to do with our original letter. War service or any other services are side issues so. fawns'the. Communist activities are concerned in the matter of unemployment. The policy of this New Zealand section of the Third International, with whom the majority of that deputation are closely associated,-is laid down for them by their headquarters, and, shortly put, it is to exploit the unemployed in every wav possible so as to organise that force and direct it into revolutionary channels. This is so openly and publicly stated by the Communist headquarters that it is undeniable. : Our original letter was to warn the men out of work that the Communist agitators, who are trying to cause trouble in the unemployed ranks, arc .not-working for the benefit of the men-out of work, but are hoping to use them as cat's-paws—accord-ing to orders received from abroad. Past war services, therefore, however- meritorious can uot affect present action, against our Dominion. ..""'.' / ■ : There is some indication that the Communist authorities are about to change their tactics in connection with the unemployed question; they evidently think they have hit on a.more effective method of stirring up trouble and making the problem more difficult to solve. Events will prove if this is correct.—We are, etc., N.Z. WELFARE LEAGUE. 20th, July. ' "■
