From the outlet Wellington led the attack, and in the first five minutes Kushbridge scored two goals. Up and down play followed,, ■with Wellington having slightly the better of the exchanges. V.M.C.A. then rallied and made several determined attack's on Wellington's goal. On one occasion they almost scored, hut the ball went wide. Persistent efforts oil the part of Y.M.C.A.'s forwards, however, resulted in Ferguson scoring from a scramble in the circle. The half-time score was Wellington 3, Y.M.C.A. 1. Soon after resumption Wellington pressed strongly, and Kushbridge made the score 4-1. By this time V.M.C.A. had lost the dash they displayed earlier in the game, and play was continually in their ground. Although Wellington scored two further goals, their play was not up to their usual standard. Newport and Burton were the other scorers. The game ended: Wellington 6, V.M.C.A. 1. Messrs. C. P. M'Kenzie and H. J. Smith ;were the referees; KARORI DEFEA-rHUTT. In a' very close game on the Hutt. recreation ground Karori defeated Hutt by - -goals to 3. Tn the early stages of the game the Blai_s looked as if they would have an easy Yin, for within ten minutes, of the start'lhey had scored two goals off ithe. sticks of Jeromson and, Robb. Karori continued to attack, and a penalty corner given against the Reds resulted in: the ball being sent out in front of the ,goal-mouth, where Watchman had no difficulty in. scoring. WESLEY BEATEN. The. match between Wesley and University/ resulted in a win for the. latter team by one goal to nil. The game was evenly contested, but except for a bright bit of play now and again was very scrappy. Both teams failed to make use of opportunities and faulty stick work was noticeable. During the first few minutes of Wesley had their oppdnents hem-, mcd in in their'twenty-five, but their at-tack-lacked thrust. IYI Intosh, in University's goal, was in good form and made several goo saves. For the remainder of /'the first spell play was simply carried from one end of the field to the other. Had the players of both teams timed their shots more carefully the game would have had a different result. There was no score at half-time. The Students forced the pace in the second spell, and made several unsuccessful attacks on. Wesley's goal. Dykes in goal for Wesley made some good clearances. Play hovered about midfield for some time until an opening in Wesley's defence enabled Simpson to carry the ball right through to the circle and score. It was a good solo effort. The Students- wer.e given several corners in the ensuing play, but they failed to make use of them. Lewis for University played a good game. There was no further score.' Messrs. R. P. Staples- and C.
