CHARGE DISMISSED
Slating that* as he had some doubt as to whether there wore sufficient grounds for a conviction, Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., in tho Magistrate's Court to;dn.y, dismissed a charge against John Sandf'ord Valvoi, alias Reid, aged 32, of being an idle and disorderly person in that ho has insufficient lawful means of support. Detective J. Murray said that ho interviewed the accused yesterday concerning a complaint that a man's pocket had been picked in Customhouse quay. The accused had admitted associating with a number of convicted thieves, and stated that although ho bad only 2s he could borrow money from friends to keep him going. Mr. P. M'Carthy, who appeared for the accused, produced :ui unemployment levy book, and also an employment card to show that Valvoi had tried to gel work. ■ ■ '•■■'
