ISLAND BAY CLUB

There was a. large attendance of mem bers at the fourteenth annual meeting of the Island Bay Bowling Club over which Mr. J. M. Hale presided. Feeling reference was made by the chairman to the loss1 sustained by the club

through the death-of Messrs. H. Bnrt, W Kestieaux, J. B. Young, and H. Hobbs. The annual report and balance-sheet (previously published) were adopted. Messrs. O. H. Dillner,- W. B. Bull, and L. Sowman :were elected members. .- •

The following, officers for. 1931-32 were elected:—President, Mr. D.' Munro;, vicepresident, Mr. G. W. Key; hon. secretary, Mr.-Hi F. Clarke; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. B. • Parcel!; management committee, Messrs: J, M. Hale, W.'Kei-r; T. G. Eicketts, .1?. A., Herron, J. Jenkins, J. A. ConcloiyW.:J. Churchill. H. Dixon, and H.. C. Osbprne. Mr. 11. Hitchins, 5.F.A.1... was re-elected hon. auditor.

The annual subscription was fixed at £4 4s, reducible, to £3 15s if paid by Ist November next.

Messrs. W. Kerr, E. A. ■ Herron, and G. W Key were elected selectors for Saturday matches, and Mr. K. Boocock sole selector for Wednesday fixtures.

A committee was appointed to visit any ■■umbers who may be laid aside by sickness. This work will be attended to by Messrs. Munro,, Key; Hale, Dixon, and Rev. 11. Ashworth.

Any eases of members out of employment or in straitened, circumstances are to_ be referred to the Management. Committee for discretionary action regarding their subscriptions. " ' : . For the fourth successive year there was an animated discussion regarding Sunday play. The proposal, to introduce Sunday play was defeated by 33 votes to 18.

The meeting carried a resolution: "That this club is unanimously in favour of the Daylight Saving Regulations being extended to loth April in each .year, and urges the Wellington Centre and the Council of the Dominion Bowling Association to use their utmost endeavours to get this alteration passed into law this session." It was decided to carry out the champion rinks and percentage fours competitions on the same lines as last season. Mr. If. I<\ Clarke was reappointed-dele-gate to Wellington Bowling Centre. Special votes of thanks were passed to ■Mrs. J. M.
