Chamber at 2 p.m., when tables for.uridge, euchre, and "500" have been arranged.-, Donations for this, effort havo been given by Mrs. L. Dwaii, Mr. Denby* and the Stewart Electrical Company, as well as anonymous,gifts. ■-~ ..• ' It was decided, owing to the president and,secretary of the .Lower: Hutt branch offttho-. Red Cross having, resigned from.tho Red Cross organisation to amalgamato tho . clothing committee with the sewing guild. /' Tho chairuian reported that about 10 cords of firewood were available for tho fuel committee to cut up. ft. Mr. Wallaco .-reported that tho-trans-port-committee-; had-received an offer of free cartage from. Mr. W, Dobson. The- chairman reported-that several anonymous donors had promised financial assistance as it was needed. It was , reported that the amount available from'the Rugby matches was expected to roach £70. Tho secretary reported that £.128 10s had been paid into tho Mayor's, fund, of which £57 had been paid in from collections made 'in tho secretary's office.. ; ■ . i A'donation of; over £17 was received from tho staff of-tho Hutt High. School. The secretary, reported that up to dato two tons of.meat and 'over live tons of .potatoes had; >bc.cu. disposed. of at very low rates. -. > ■ ■ Mr. Ncsbit reported that tho market gardeners: had' all boon visited and all had expressed a desire to help, but that, this being tho bare season, there was very little to give. Supplies of vegetables sufficient for-two weeks had been given. -It was hoped to get 100: five-shilling groceries orders donated during tho coming week. , Tho secretary reported that arrangements were being made for the receipt of vegetables at a-cheap, rate. The committee would be glad to havo gifts of fruit and vegetables from private individuals. ■■(. ■-.
Mr. Wallace reported 'that any person desiring to donato goods to-tho depot at a time whou it was not open could got the key at the Post Office.
