IDEAL WIFE
The young men of to-day want wives with character rather than inheritedwealth, and a diploma from a cookery school instead of social standing. This discovery was made by a clergyman of Oswego, New York State, who issued a questionnaire to 100 young men concerning the qualities,of. a perfect wife (says tho "Sunday Express"). The replies showed that they attached importance to the matrimonial qualifications of women in the following order: Character, health, domesticity, good looks, intellectual brilliance, ability to earn own living, social standing, and inherited wealth. The average annual income considered essential to a happy marriage was £446.
