RESCUE AT SEA
&BEIFT IN A LAUNCH
JHREE EXHAUSTED MEN

AUCKLAND, This Day
Three, men were rescued from drowning in Hauraki Gulf last night by the steam trawler Thomas Cumell, which reached the men's sinking launch just in time.
The rescued men wero J. Holt, junior, !D. Miller, and W. Stanley.-
The- launch -was returning to Auckhind from Port Fitzroy, when tho engine broke down at 2.80 p.m. The launch began to ship water, and the iniiii could do nothing but keep bailing. About; midnight they were becoming exhausted, and to make their plight worse the dinghy astern broke away.
About 2 o'clock this morning they say a masthead light so lit flares. Half an hour later the Thomas Cumell took them off.
An attempt was •made to tow the launch, but it broke away and disappeared.
