INTENSIVE STOGKING
Intensive stocking, it is. stated by the Conservator of; Fish 'and- Game, has greatly improved the fishing in Taupo and the surrounding district. '.'The trout have, shown a marked improvement in 'condition . during • the, past season, which has been more successful than the preceding ones," says his report. "Tho area now controlled by this Department includes tho whole of the thermal-lakes-and rivers, and- takes in Lake Taupo and most of tho Bay • of Plenty. It aiso embraces the Urewera Country and then extends eastwards through the -northern part of Hawkes Bay- as far-aS the east end or! the Mahia Peninsula. Anglers are of tho opinion that while tho fish are not so large, they are just as plentiful and that the best trout fishing can still bo secured here. The Department's officers arc..well vers-ed-in the conditions of the fishing in their respective areas, and anglers callj now depend on reliablo information being given.
