A HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Once upon a time in Fairyland there lived a poor but beautiful fairy whoso name was Fairy Forgot-me-not. One day it was Forget-me-nots birthday, and a postman knocked at her door TCiy early and, handing her a note, flew away. Quickly she tore open tho envelope and Tead it, and this is what it said: "Dear Forget-me-not, we are having a party to-night to celebrate Queen Fairiel's birthday." Fairiol's messenger, • "TIPPETY TOES." "Oh, how lovely!" cried Forget-me-not, bnt suddenly she grew quiet'and sad. "Oh-o-o, I haven't got a pretty dress to go in!" sho sobbed. At that instant a knock was heard at her door. Quickly sho opened the door, and seeing Tippety-Toes, she gasped. "Queen Fairiel wants you," he said. Soon they ■ were floating to the palace in which the. Queen lived. .When they reached there, Forget-me-not wished the Queen many happy returns of the day, and Forget-me-not was wished tho same thing. "I beard you haven't got a party frock for your birthday," said Queen Fairiel. "So pick one of these." As she spoke shehandod her a parcel. Quickly Forget-me-not ehoso her dross. It was a pink ono with a pink rose petal skirt decorated with pink forget-me-nots. Then a delicate pair of pink wings. Queen Fairiel said she might keep the frock and wings. That night Forget-me-not wore the pretty frock. Never had she enjoyed herself so much as that night. At supper For-get-me-not noticed a birthday cake with her name on it. There were dewdrops in acorn cups, and all sorts of cakes. After supper, Fairiel told them it was the birthday of the Fairy Ring, and Forget-me-nots too. Tho Ring's cake had four candles on it. Very late that night and tired but, happy Fairy reached her home. "TIPPETY TOES" (9). Brooklyn.
