DELAY IN COMPLETION
THE MAYOR ANGRY
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
ROTORUA, 27th Juno,
"If tho Prime Minister will not or cannot immediately comploto the Blue Baths- in accordance with the whole original plan for. the improvement of Rotorua's baths, opportunity should be given the people of Botorua to do so themselves; provided tho rovenues derived therefrom arc secured to them," said tho Mayor,. Mr. Jackson, when interviewed regarding, the announcement of the Hon.. P. A. de la Porrelle, Ministor of Internal Affairs, in a letter to Mr. 0. H. Olinkard, M.P. for Botorua,' that only tho Juvenile Bath was to bo constructed immediately. "I am utterly . disgusted with tho vaoillatiQii of thoso responsible for theso decisions," said Mr, Jackson. ■"They don't: know their own minds two days .together. I find it-difficult to reconcile the statement mado to myself by Mr. de In Perrelle, that the Blue Baths would be completed,in accordance with the original plans, with his' most-recent statement, and can only conclude either -that the Minister is .unconversant with the. decision of Cabinet or has made a deliberately misleading statemont to the people of Botorua. . "In , Wellington recently I- interviewed- the Prime Minister, who. informed me.that it had been decided to proceed with the baths in a modified form," said Mr. Jackson. "I assured Mr. Forbes that it .was futile to proceed that way, and that I was convinced the people of Rotoruahad sufficient faith in the original proposals to enable a private company to raise the money without difficulty and to complete the building in accordance with the original scheme, provided the opportunity was given, in which case the whole of the revenues should go to the people of* Botorua."
