LONDON, 28th June. Playing for Yorkshire, Suteliffe made a bigger score (230) than- the whole of the New Zealand snning3, although he was kopt out by the Selection Corn-
mitteo as unlit to play for England. This arousod a storm of comment. Sutcliffc explained that he wanted to try out his leg in fielding after the recent Hampshire match, but received a telegram from the selectors saying that as the strain had not disappeared they were unable to play him at Lord's. Ho was most disappointed.
