PLUNKET SOCIETY.

The annual meeting of the coastal towns sub-branch of the Wellington Plunket /Society was held at Greer's Private Hotel, Porir'ua. Mr. R. W. Bothamley presided,. and complimented a large assembly of Plunket supporters (including representatives from l'ukerua Bay, Plitnmerton, Tawa Flat, Titahi Bay, and Porirua) on their year's work. After the report and balance-sheet had been read and adopted, <the following officers 'were elected: President,'Mrs..E. Windley; vicepresidents, Lady Hbsking, Mrs. K. W. Bothamley, Dr., Williams, and: Mr. C. Gray (Pukerua, Bay),; secretary, Mrs. F. 'Hassall; treasurer, Mr. R. W. Bothamley; committee; Mesdames Larsen and 'Hawkin (Tawa Flat), Mrs. J. Scott and Miss N. Gray (Pukerua Bay), Mesdames Swainson and Perrett (Plimmerton), and Mesdames M'Kenzie and Hook (Titahi Bay). Mr. Bothamley introduced Mrs. Tythe Brown (president) and Miss Ward (secretary), of the Wellington branch. Mrs. Tythe Brovvn gave a very interesting address on the- inception of the. Plunket Society in New Zealand, and Miss Ward spoke on the committee's responsibilities . and financial aspects. Mrs. Bullock, *'of Wellington, also spoke of the valuable work of the society abroad. Vocal and pianoforte solos wet'e contributed by Mesdames Dawson, Swainson, Perrett, and Miss Calendar: A hearty vote of thanks to the speakers and those responsible for the encce'ss of the meeting was carried: Mrs. Ha'ssall,,on behalf of the Plunket friends of Tawa Flat," Porirua, and Titahi Bay, presented Mr. R. W. Bothamley with a suitably inscribed oak clock in recognition of his valuable and faithful services to the sub-branch, during the period it was under the control of the Otaki branch. A presentation,-in the form of a braiitiful rose bowl, was also made by Mrs. Hassall on behalf of the Tawo Flat Sub-Committee, to Mrs. Dawson, who is leaving the district. The recipients suitably responded. Little Bernice Colley and Master Keith Hughes presented bouquets to Mrs. Tythe Brown. Afternoon tea terminated a very pleasant and successful meeting.
