EXHIBITION MATCH
A gallery of two hundred followed the exhibition match on Shandon yesterday between A. D. S. Duncan and D. O. Whyte (Wellington) and Rana Wagg and T. R. M'Gregor (Hutt). Teeing up was permitted, owing to the soggy nature of the fairways. Hutt won l'up,.M'.Gregor sinking a' long putt at the eighteenth. Members and visitors saw some long and excellent driving,. Whyte.and:M'.Gregor hitting very long balls., Duncan was-in .form, and ;his
length was remarkable, while younger members learned much from his free and unforced style. Though each of the players encountered obstacles, one of the'four secured low figures at every hole, and Duncan's 2 at the fourth; the short mashie hole, being quite in his best style. The visitors were thanked by the club president (Mr. G. H. A. Swan). Mr. Duncan, who replied, said he was impressed by the big improvements since his last visit.
