SYNOPSIS OF LAST 48 HOURS.
During the week-end the weather was most changeable, with ..cold temperatures. Scattered showers fell" on both Saturday-and-Sunday, although at quite' a number 'of places it Was fair to fine. During Sunday, however, a depression crossed the Dominion, a slight cyclone developing in the afternoon near Cook Strait. Consequently a strong southerly wind set '.In almost generally on Sunday afternoon, which has since been accompanied by rain in most districts. Very squally . conditions ' prevailed .in the night, and much snow has since fallen in the South Island, a number of east coast towns reporting snow at 9 a.m. to-day.
