SEATOUN CLUB

The nineteenth annual meeting of the Seatoun Bowling and Tannis Club, Ltd., was held' on Saturday night. There was a large attendance of members. The president, Mr. W..L. Page, was in the chair, and in moving the adoption ot the report and balance-sheet, thanked the directors for the. wholehearted support accorded him during the year. Mr. Page made special mention of the improvements made during the season, and asked members to show their appreciation of the services of various donors of material, etc.. .-■-■- ,f The acting-secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. A. Scarfe, was eulogised for his work during the year and an honorarium grantMr. Page spoke of the efforts of. the croquet ladies, who had raised £56 for charity—a really great effort. Their card evenings also had been very successful. During the season the greatest harmony had been preserved .between the various sections of the club, which had made the work easy for the directors....... . ' The president asked, members to. stand in as a mark of respect to the late Mr. B. Lewis (director) and to the late Captain Chudley, who had always helped the club where possible. The services of Mr. Fred North, a former president, were referred to by Air. Page, who moved that he be made a lifo member. This was carried on the voices. . c , There were two contestants for the position of president—Mr. W. L; Page and Mr. P. R. Jackson. Mr. Page was elected for the second time. Bight members were nominated as directors, and the following were elected: C. Ellis, J. S. Gordon, J. B. Higgins, H. E. Jones, S. M. Stone, A. V. Swanson. Mr. H. A. Snellitog (viee-jpresideut), Mr. W. A. Scarfe (secretary), and Mr. R C. Stewart (treasurer) were elected unopposed. Mr. S. M. Stone was appointed delegate to the centre, Mr. H.E..Tones as green superintendent, Mr. ii. W. A. Kellow as honorary auditor, and Mr, U. R. Richmond as honorarysolicitor. . Special mention was made of Mr. W. A. Grace (life patron), who, though unable to attend, took the keenest interest m the club. , ~. _ _ Lively interest was shown :n Mr. P..X. Jackson's notice of motion, That in lieu of a sole selector there be a selection committee of three, which shall also be the match committee." .■■,,' T , After considerable discussion, Mr. jacKsoix's motion was carried, the voting being very close. Mr. P. R. Jackson and Mr. Ultan M'Cabe were elected by the meeting to the match committee, and the third member is to be chosen by the .directors. ' . . •, . It was agreed that instructions ba given to the incoming directors that the rule that entrance 'fees.--must accompany^ all nominations of new members be strictly enforced. It was agreed finally that where a rebate was given it be increased by 2s 6d for tennis and croquet, and 'by ia for bowling members, if paid by the due date. Club singles and pairs are to be carried out on the two-life system for the coining season. . ■ : The finances were reported-to be In a very healthy condition. The greenkeeper, Mr. R. Whetton, was complimented on the fine playing surface |of the green, which had been evident right up to the close of play. Mr. Jones, the green superintendent, stated .he thought the green would be oven, better next year. . Mr. E.
