NO EASY VICTORY.
"bn'No"2 ground'at the Basm ixcserve Diamond beat Seatoun by 3 goals to 2! Neither team played its best lootball, and a dull game resulted the only interest coming from the fact that tor the last quarter of the match-the .teams lore level, and that the deciding goal was scored right on the call of time, obv*- ■ ating the necessity of " playing for au extra thirty, minutes.
The teams were:— Diamond: Wyatt; Wotherspoon, Oucst, J. 31'Leod, Bishop, Geddes; Bryson, Rigby, Dickinson, K. M'Leod, Stark. _ Seatoun: Parkm; Duffill, Otter; Gumstone, J. Kershaw, Connor; Garrod, L. Kershaw, Andeison, M'Kenzie, AViteon. lv the fiist half Seatoun faced an intermittent sun and a slight breeze, but in spite "of this did1 most of the attacking in the early stages. In one of their attacks J. Kershaw swung the ball out to Garrod, on tho light, and he took it up the wing and centred hard from almost on the back line. In attempting to clear, Guest diverted the. ball .into his own goal. Seatoun, 1; Diamond, 0. Diamond retaliated vigorously, but their work in front of goal 'was ineffective. Presently, they were awarded a penalty for a foul, and Wya.tt -ft as sure with the kick. Scj.toun, 1; Diamond, 1. The game progressed evenly, without much incident, until iust before the interval R. M'Leod put Diamond in the lead with an easy but unexpected shot from a crowd close m. Diamond, 2; Seatoun, 1. Play was slightly faster m the second half and the goalies were called upon more often. Diamond showed improved form on their first half's performance, and managed to hold their lead until twenty minutes before the end,-when T. Kershaw capped a neat Seatoun forward movement by tapping a pass from Wilson gently into the net. Diamond, 2; Seatoun, 2. Both sides were striving hard for mastery, and both'came very-close to scoring. A sliot. from Diamond's left went through Parkin's hands and rolled across the Seatoun goal-mouth dangerously close to tho line, but the defence cleared. Seatoun: | tv ere unlucky in their turn when a using 6 hdl •from one ' of. their forwards hit the lower side of the cross-bai, and bounced dovn into the goal, but it, too, was cleared. R. M'Leod and Bryson changed'places'in Diamond's forward line, and-the change was all for their good. With only two or three minutes to go, Bishop sent-Ron./M'Leod down the right wing to ccnli c to Bryson, who shot beautifully, to make the final score: Diamond. 3; Seatoun, 2.
