In defence Dow stated that the light on the engine was like a bicycle lamp and that the driver had not.sounded the whistle, although' he had admitted seeing the headlights of the carl The defendant was convicted and ordered to pay 10s costs. A plea of not'guilty was enteied by J. P. Foster to a charge of having ridden a motor-cycle on the main road at a speed and in a'manner dangerous to the public. He was convicted, and fined £2. In judgment summons cases A. S. Frater was ordered to pay G. Cook, Ltd., £5 0s id forthwith, in default four days' imprisonment; and James Dunn was ordered to pay Campbell Bros. £2 7s fortlnv ith, in default three days' imprisonment. '
