TERMINAL PORT
SOUTH ISLAND TRUNK
PUSHING ON SURVEY
A SPECIAL REPORT
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ■ BLENHEIM, This Day. On Saturday the Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department, Mr. F. W. Furkort, accompanied by Mr. L. May, district engineer, visited Clifford Bay, near Cape Campbell, where a marine survey is being carried out to determine the suitability of the locality for the main terminal of the South Island Main Trunk Bailway. Mr. Furkert returned to Wellington without making any1 comment. It is understood that the survey is still only half completed owing to bad weather being encountered, and owing to the fact that the H'.rveyors have at their disposal only a small rowing boat. But tho work is to be pushed on with the utmost dispatch, presumably so that the data obtained may bp used for the guidance of the Eailway Board as a supplement to a special report on the subject which is known to be in existence. ■
