GRATEFUL NEGRO
AMERICAN PRIZE-WINNER MONEY, TO BRING WIFE HOME* (Received 4th June, 1 p.m.) BOSTON, 3rd June. The only American holder of a Carneroniau ticket in the Irish Sweepstakes was Joseph Kennedy, a picturesque diminutive negro, working for 12 dollars a week. When he heard that he had won 145,000 dollars he dropped on his knees and said, "I thank Thee for Thy blessing." Ho stated that ha would first bring his wife and children home from Jamaica, to which he had sent them three years ago for a vacation. He had never since had enough money to bring them back.
