KNIGHTHOODS CONFERRED. A knighthood has been conferred on Mr. Ben Turner, veteran Labour leader and member of Parliament. Other recipients of knighthoods include: Mr. Charles M'Ness, of Perth, Western Australia, for philanthropic servicos in that State. Mr. Charles Nelcher, Chief justico of Trinidad, for philanthropic services in Ceylon. Mr. W. A. Farquharson, for services to Jamaica, and Mr. Donald Kingdon, Chief Justice of Nigeria. General Sir Reginald Hart, who is 83 years of age, and the oldest holder of the Victoria Cross, which he won in an Afghan campaign 52 years ago, is made a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath. Sir George Schuster becomes Knight Commander of the Star of India. ORDER OF THE BATH. Order of the Bath knighthoods aro conferred on Vice-Admirals Vernon Haggard and William Boyle, and Lieu-tenant-Generals Felis Beady and Sir Walter Leslie, KB.; also on MajorGenerals Philip Grant and Charles Gwynn, Air Vice-Marshal Charles Lambe, and Colonel Oliver Wigram, re-cently-appointed Private Secretary to tho King. ROYAL VICTORIAN ORDER. Field-Marshal Sir William Robertson and Sir William Llewellyn, distinguished artist and President of Koyal Academy, become Knights Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order. Koyal Victorian Order of Knighthoods are conferred on Major-General Sir Guise Guise-Moores, Mr. R. E. Har-j wood, and Colonel A. E. Erskine. Miss Sybil Thorndike, the well-known actress, for services to dramatic art, becomes Dame Commander, and also Miss Joanna Cruiekshank, late Matron-3n-Chief of the Air Force Nursing Service, and Miss Sarah Mail 7, for services to women's education. Order of Companions of Honour is conferred on Dr. Albert Mansbridge, for services in connection with adul^education, and on Mr. B. Seebohm Eowntroe, for social services. ST. MICHAEL-AND ST. GEORGE. In the Order of St. Michael and St. George, Sir Cecil Clementi, Governor of the Straits Settlements, becomes Knight of the-Grand Cross. Knighthoods are conferred on Mr. W. E. F. Jackson, Governor o* Mauritius; Colonel F. R. St. Johnston, Governor of tho Leeward Islands; Sir John Middleton, Governor of Newfoundland; Dr. W. M. Carter, formerly Archbishop rif Cape Town; Sir John Maffey, Gover-nor-General of the Sudan; Mr. 11. E. Satow, Consul-Genernl at Berut; and Mr. Walford Selby, Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary. BRITISH EMPIRE ORDER. In the Order of the British Empire, knighthoods aro conferred on Mr. R. Maconachie, British Minister at Kabul; Mr. B. H. Bourdilion, Colonial Secretary in Ceylon; Vice-Admiral A. P. Addison, Major-General G. A. H. Beatty, 'and Mr. Roderick Meiklejohn, First Civil Service Commissioner. A considerable number of honours also =are conferred upon members of tho Indian services and prominent Indians.
