Y.M.C.A. SHIELD MATCH
Conditions at the Kilbimie Recreation Ground wore ideal yesterday for the V.M.C.A. Shield hockey match between a team from Mnstorton and a team from Wellington. This year Wellington were the challenges, and as the game resulted in a draw—both teams scored one goal each—the Masterton team will retain the shield. The first half of the game was characterised by wild hitting and lack of combination. There was no score at halftime. Tho second spell was very different. . Both teams settled down and gave a good exhibition. Although the teams were evenly matched, Masterton had slightly the better of the play. Foster scored for Masterton half-way through tho second spoil. From a bully-off Wellington pressed very hard, and within a short time equalised, Millen scoring from the corner. The outstanding players were Bell. O'.Kaue, and Foster for Masterton, and Ferguson, Meade. M'Donald, and Millen for Wellington. Mr. Hibbert and Mr. W. A. Scott controlled the game.
