Within the kst few days a number of mcii have been discharged by the City Council. Some of these men have been in the employ of the city for many years, and the action of the council has created considerable hardship. The Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) has agreed to meet a deputation from the General Labourers' Union in connection with the matter this afternoon.
