THE KING'S BIRTHDAY
CELEBRATION IN SAMOA (Special to Press Association, by Radio.) (Received 4th. June, 2 p.m.) APIA, This Day. The King's Birthday was observed this morning by an official reception at the Government Offices, attended by the Administrator, the Chief Judge, the Secretary of the Administration, the Secretary for Native Affairs, and the Hon. A. W. Johnston. The Chiefs Mataafa and Malietoa and thirty-five Fnipule at the Kava ceremony expressed loyalty to the King. At. ten o'clock in the morning there was . a public function outside the Government Offices, when the Administrator inspected the Constabulary guard of honour. A Royal salute was fired by the pilot station battery, after which the Administrator invested the Chief Malietoa Tanumafili with the insignia of the Order of the British\Enipirc.
The Administrator attends the races this afternoon, and gives a ball this evening at Government House, Vailima.
