CABARET EVENING
ENGLISH-SPEAKING UNION
Nearly three hundred guests wero present at the Adelphi Cabaret last evening, when the bridge and cabaret party arranged annually by the Wellington branch of the English-speaking Union was held. The guests were received by the president, Mr. H. Johnston, K.C., Mrs. Johnston, Mr. A. L. Hunt (chairman), and Mrs. J. Bennio (chairwoman of the social committee). Mrs. Johnston wore a frock of biscuitcoloured georgette and lace, and Mrs. Bennio black fisher net mounted on gold tissue. Mrs. Hunt was in a black georgette frock. During, the evening Mr. Johnston spoke on the aims and objects of the society, pointing out the advantages of membership. The two main rooms of the cabaret wore used for dancing, and bridgo was played in the lounge. A delicious supper was served, the tables being decorated with vases of Iceland poppies. A demonstration of modern ballroom dancing was given by Miss Valma Spiller and Mr. B. Chadwick. Among the many guests were Commander and Mrs. Brcmner, Mr. and Mrs. B.
