LYALL BAY BOWLING CLUB
The annual spoke concert of the Lyall Bay Bowling Club was held in tho Katea Hall on Wednesday.. The president, Mr. W. P. Sherwood, was in the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. Among the guests were: Mr. H.. Mayer, president of tho Wellington Centre; Messrs. W. L. Pago (Seatoun Club), Guise (Nswtown Club), J. Kershaw (Hataitai Club), and' M. Halo (Island Bay Club). Tho pro-) ceodings opened with tho loyal toast, and National Anthem, and other toasts | proposed wc)o: —"The Wellington Centre," Mr. J. Topp, reply, Mr. H. Mayor; "Kindred Clubs," Mr. P. Hazlewood, reply Mr. J. Kershaw and visitors; "The Ladies," Mr. G. Noad, reply, Mr. J. Reid. Trophies won by members during the season wore pre-, sented by Mr. Mayer. Tho winners were: Mr. J. Brackenridge, singles champion; Messrs. J. Brnckenridgo (s), and Gco. Noad (1.), pairs champions; Messrs. L. X Bruce, J. Topp, K. George, and AY. F. Sherwood (s), champion rink; Mr. J. M'Kenna, junior 6ingles champion. Tho club's activities were not confined solely to bowls, and during tho winter months a billiards and snooker tourney was held, the winners of the trophies being: Mr. C. Parsons (billiards); runner-up, Mr. H. A. V. Scott; Mr. W. P. Sherwood (snooker); runner-up, Mr. B. Deare. Much appreciated vocal items were given by Messrs. H..Tonics, 11. J. Milsom, C. A. Wilson, A. H. Wilson, and li. Hallow. Mr. C. Parsons officiated at tho piano. Other toasts with musical honours' were: Mr. J. Brackenridge, this year's winner of the Centre's champion of champions singles; "The Entertainers": and "Our president,l Mr. W. J?. Sherwood," proposed by past-president, Mr. J. Lcucliars. A I very enjoyable function terminated in the good old bowling style.
