Mr. R. L. Smith, of the-motor ship Otokia. Is one of the first engineers in New Zealand to have bis chief's ticket endorsed with the motor qualification, for which a special examination has- to be passed, states a southern paper. Mr; Smith belongs to Port Chalmers.
PORT NAPIER AT LONDON. . Tho Port Napier, which left Auckland on 11th "April, arrived at London yesterday morning.
THE NARBADA.
The Narbada was to leave Port Chalmers this morning for Sydney, where she will be docked for overhaul and survey before proceeding to Newcastle to load coal for Java. She proceeds thence to Calcutta to commence her July-August loading for New Zealand. . .
