Seven earthqua" kes, . all of considerable intensity, w< >ro felt here during the twenty-four hours from 6 a.m. yesterday. The mosii intense- was at 5.8 p.m. It lasted foi: one minute, and it was recorded on a \ seismograph in possession of Mr. Her try "Do Denne to the full width of the chart, but did not throw the needle' i iff. .It had a heavy rolling motion. A more frighten ing 'quake occurred at 2.27 this morning, and the seismograph shows that ifct lasted for a full five 'minutes.. Seismjpgraphically it was not. so intense as yesterday's shake, but it was of long duration, and the hour of happening made it more alarming. No damage is repeated, but the continuance of the squ;«kcs is naturally causing uneasiness. ': :
