LITTLE CHANGE
IN WEATHER OUTLOOK
The meteorological . situation this morning showed little change to what it was yesterday.I,'. A depression persists to the north of New Zealand, and an anti-eyclouo remains over the South Island. Consequently strong southeasterly winds have continued'to-pre-vail in and. north of Cook Strait, whilst in southern districts southerlies of light to moderate force only have predominated, although wind.direction has boon somewhat variable. Tho southern half of the South Island has had fair weather, but elsewhere conditions have been, changeable and at times showery, temperatures being low everywhere.
Yesterday was cloudy in Auckland. A fresh south-easterly wind sprang'-up in the night, and light rain fell then; early this morning.- In Wellington, the weather was cold and unpleasant, ' a strong south-easterly wind being accompanied by occasional showers. Four; points of rain fell altogether. In both' Christchurch aud Dunedin, too, it was cold and dull yesterday, the former city having one point" of rain. t :J. To-day's forecast indicates a continuance of much the same kind of weather. North of-Faro-well Spit and Kaikoura south-easterly to north-easterly winds will-be strong and may reach gale force in places. South of those points: winds will be moderate. Changeable weather with scattered showers may be expected north of Farewell Spit ..and Kaikoura, .showers occurring more-:..1; especially, in, eastern and northern districts of the North Island. Fair: to fine weather will prevail in other districts, temperatures everywhere being cool. •
