HOSPITAL REFORM

A gratifying result of yesterday's polling is the strong support won by Dr. Campbell Begg and Dr. Macdonald Wilson. Both candidates have a wide knowledge of hospital affairs, and, though they are busy men, they came forward and agreed to help in reorganising Wellington Hospital Board administration. Dr. Begg submitted to the electors a definite plan of reorganisation which would promote efficiency and economy in the provision for the sick. Such offers of self-sacrificing service have not always been accepted by the people. It is pleasing that on this occasion there lias been no hesitation in the acceptance, and the two medical men have been placed at the top of the poll. Dr. Begg has-been given a majority that should assure him of public support in the work he has undertaken. In the past we have taken hospital business too easily, assuming that all was well and could not possibly be bettered. Neither Dr. Begg nor Dr. Wilson is satisfied that there is no room for improvement. We trust that other members of "the'new board will cooperate whole-heartedly with them in the improvements they hope to effect.
