OPENING NIGHT
"CHARLEY'S AUNT" CLUB
The "Charley's Aunt" Social Club hold its opening night for the 1931 season in the Masonic Hall last evening, a large number of members and friends being present. An atmosphere of goodwill and friendship prevailed, and the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The programme commenced with the "playirig-in" of Mr. B. H. Nimmo by pipers W. Smith, sonr., and W. Sniith,r junr.'' The.' installation of the Captain by Mr. Joseph. Can- and the presentation of his insignia were followed, by an excellent concert. Songs were contributed by Mrs. Wilfred Andrew's, Mrs. Amy ■ Woodward, Mr. Ernest Glading, and Mr, Dennis Sheard; recitations by Miss'Mary'Cooley and Mr. Norman Aitken; • .and orchestral items by Mr. Norman-Izett and band. A ballet .was danced :;by Mr. David Dev/it's senior ballet class,'which comprised Misses' Jean Miller (solo), Beryl Hunter, Aviee Nolan,'Winnie Clark, K. Beid, O. Coulston, Irene Treadwell, Alice Duthie, C. Wardell, Irene Wilson, M. Sargenson, and Master Noel Walsh (solo). Miss Irene Wilson ■ and Mr. Bob. Connell. danced a clover specialty dance. Tho concluding,- item was a sketch entitled-"ThoiOli Lady Shows Her Manners," by' Mrs.' I. "Halligan's senior dramatic class.' " -Between, items Mr. B. H. Nimmo caused great amusement with a number of Scotch stories. After'the concert a dainty supper was' sorved by the ladies' committee, which comprised,' Mesdainos B; Lissack, T. Tracy, E. Moriard, -Wilfred Andrews, B. IC Lyon, A. F. Baudinet, A. Hennali, I. M. Tucker; F. Ash end on, Misses O. Bennett, F.. Snell,;L.'A:sh'.woi'th, Messrs. W. 8.. Andrews^ -r 8...'! K.'Z Lyon, W. Glover, J. W.I C. H-. ; : Neal,, L. B. Quintonj J. E. .Creed, E:- E: -;Edwards, -and M. E. Nolan. Dancing continued till.a late hour. There were numerous novelty dances, and a "Monte Carlo" was won by Miss Irene , v ßennett and Mr. Halley. Visitors present.included Mr. and Mi's. ChapelLMri-and Mrs. G. M. Scott, Mr. and Mrs:!
