THE FIRST SHIPMENT

Tho first of the season's shipments of citrus fruits from the South Sea Islands arrived at "Wellington to-day by j the Monowai, from San Francisco, via Papeete, and Barotonga. The shipment comprised 6500 eases, in addition to 3000 casis of bananas, and was being distributed among the fruit auctioneering firms to-day. It was stated that the oranges had arrived in fair condition, but that the bananas had-apparently been, stowed too near the engines, and were "boiled," the whole of the consignment arriving in bad order.
