KEY TO THE WEST
KELBURN VIADUCT
The gratification of residents in the western suburbs at the completion of a new viaduct adequate for both pedestrian and motor traffic for practical!}' all"time, was shown by the large attendance at the opening ceremony by the Mayor (Mr. G. A.• Troup) on Saturday. Tho future possibilities of this key structure were alluded to both by the Mayor and the Deputy-Mayor (Councillor M. 1\ Luckio). The. bridge, said Mr. Luekie, was regarded by the council members as the chief road communication for passengers to tho western suburbs, and he hoped that some day "the ratepayers would give the city permission to buy the Kelburn tramway. The completion of this adequate bridge would mean, thousands .more votes for that proposal. The chairman of tho Works Committoo (Councillor E. A. Wright, M.P.) congratulated the growing district on the possession of the new viaduct. The new bridge answered all critics. Mr. E. A. Batt, president of the Wellington Automobile Club, congratulated the City Council on tho sturdy bridgeprovided, which'was absolutely necessary. Cheers greeted the severing of the. ribbons by the Mayoress.
