NEW YOKE, 2nd May. Mr. George F. Baker has died of pneumonia at the age of 91. He was the dean of American bankers, and the third richest man in America., but one of the least known of Wall Street figures. His fortune is estimated as high as 500,000,000 dollars. He had attended on Thursday a directors' meeting of one of the twentynino large corporations on the boards of which he served when he, became ill. One of the anecdotes told about him is that he made his sou a millionaire by giving him the twenty dollar gold pieces he received as a fee at each of the directors' meetings lie attended.

The late Mr. George Fisher Baker was formerly chairman of the board of the First National Bank of New York. He was prominently associated with a host of companies, including the United States Steel Corporation and the Pullman Company. In private life ho was a yachting enthusiast and a patron of the arts. He presented Regault's famous painting "Salome" to the Metropolitan Museum in 1916. His son, George F. Baker, jun., also is a banker.
